Awards and Achievments While volunterring at Olivecrest Abused Children’s Home I was nominated for the Orange County “ Volunteer of the year” award in a locally televised award ceremony and received the “Mentor of the Year” award. I volunteer several hours per month after extensive training courses and being sworn in as an Officer of the Court a Court Appointed Special Advocate. (CASA) of Orange County is a non-profit organization that trains community volunteers to serve as powerful mentors and advocates for our community's most severely abused, abandoned & neglected children. Visit the CASA website. I feel it is extremely important that while the parent is receiving help with their problems that they have the opportunity to visit their child in a safe and supervised environment. I feel passionately about the fact that I can watch over the child and see the family’s faces light up when they meet for visits. Member of the Supervised Visitation Network (SVN) - a non-profit membership organization consisting of individuals and agencies who have a common interest in assuring that children have the opportunity for safe, conflict-free access to parents with whom they do not reside. |
